Vicente Stevens Olivares, a 59-year-old retiree and member of the Partido Socialista, died on March 4, 1974. His body was found abandoned on a public street two days after he had gone missing. Although the official cause of death was a heart attack, he was recognized as a victim of political violence due to the intense pressure he faced while searching for his forcibly disappeared son and the constant surveillance of his family.

Vicente Olivares Stevens died that day at 16:00 hours, in La Cañada, Los Nogales neighborhood, due to myocardial infarction with involvement of the cardio-vector apparatus, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to witness statements, Vicente Olivares left on March 2, 1974, to collect his monthly pension, as he habitually did, but on this occasion, he did not return home. Two days later, the family learned, through an unknown person who arrived at the family home carrying his identity card, that he was dead and that his body had been abandoned on a public street.
At the time of his death, Vicente Olivares, a militant of the Partido Socialista, was under intense pressure; his son, Mario Samuel Olivares Pérez, had been forcibly disappeared since September 17, 1973, and he was carrying out multiple activities to locate him, holding meetings and visiting various places; another of his sons was in hiding due to political party activities, and the family home was under constant surveillance by unidentified civilians.
Various people asserted that the death of Vicente Olivares was the work of third parties, but this version could never be proven; nor was it possible to establish whether a judicial investigation had been opened to determine the cause of his death.
Considering the evidence gathered, although the precise circumstances of his death could not be established, and paying special attention to the pressures to which he was subjected at that time, the Superior Council declared Vicente Olivares Stevens a victim of the prevailing political violence.
