Purpose of the Archive
¿Dónde Están? is a historical archive of public interest whose purpose is to preserve the memory of the victims of human rights violations in Chile during the military dictatorship (1973-1990).
This project is framed within the right to historical memory and the obligation of the State and society to remember and document these events for future generations.
Legal Basis
Data processing in this archive is based on:
- Law 21.719 (Art. 16 quinquies) - Data processing for historical research purposes and activities of public interest.
- Right to truth - Internationally recognized as a fundamental right of victims and their families.
- Data from public sources - The information comes from official Chilean State reports and public archives.

All information contained in this archive comes from official public sources:
- Rettig Report (1991)
Report of the National Commission for Truth and Reconciliation. Documents cases of forcibly disappeared, politically executed, and victims of political violence.
- Valech Report (2004, 2011)
Report of the National Commission on Political Imprisonment and Torture. Recognizes victims of political imprisonment and torture.
- Museum of Memory and Human Rights
Public institution that preserves the memory of human rights violations committed by the Chilean State.

Rights of Family Members
Heirs and family members of individuals listed in this archive have the right to:
- Rectification - Request the correction of inaccurate data.
- Update - Add relevant information to the record.
- Inquiry - Know what information is recorded.
Note: Given the historical and public interest nature of this archive, deletion requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, considering the collective right to memory.
