On October 15, 1973, Sergio Manuel CASTRO SAAVEDRA, 15 years old, a market vendor, was executed.
On that same day, he was detained at his home, located in the commune of Renca, by members of the Army and Carabineros.
His body appeared on Cerro Quilicura, a site very close to the place of his detention, presenting a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was buried by the authorities without notifying his family members. According to the death certificate, his death occurred on October 15, 1973.
This Commission, considering the evidence gathered regarding his detention and considering the circumstances and cause of his death, has reached the conviction that Sergio Manuel Castro was executed by State agents while he remained at their mercy, which constitutes a violation of human rights.
