Sergio Eugenio Salinas Toro died that day at 21:00 hours, on the Panamericana Sur in front of the Cementerio Metropolitano, due to a thoracic gunshot wound with an exit wound, as certified by his Death Certificate.

According to statements from his family members, on the day of the events, Sergio Salinas left his parents' home, located in the población Dávila, heading toward the «Che Guevara» camp, where he lived.

While he was on a public street, during hours close to the curfew, he was struck by gunfire discharged by uniformed personnel. His body was abandoned in front of the Cementerio Metropolitano, near his home.

Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted, the Superior Council, taking into account the era and the cause of his death, declared Sergio Eugenio Salinas Toro a victim of the prevailing political violence.
