Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos[1]
Sergio Emilio Aguilar Núñez died that day at 18:00 hours, at the Bulnes bridge over the Mapocho river, due to multiple gunshot wounds, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
Several witnesses concurred in stating that Aguilar Núñez was detained during a military operation carried out by members of the Ejército and Carabineros in the Nueva Matucana neighborhood of Renca, where he resided.
On the day of the events, the area was cordoned off by uniformed forces; numerous homes were raided and their occupants were detained. Sergio Aguilar's body was subsequently found in the Mapocho river near the Bulnes bridge, alongside other individuals who had died from similar causes.
Considering the evidence gathered, the Superior Council of this Corporation reached the conviction that Sergio Emilio Aguilar Núñez was executed by State agents, outside of any legal process, an act that constitutes a human rights violation.
