Salvador Alamiro Hormazábal Romero died that day at 11:00 hours, on a public thoroughfare (sic), due to an abdominal gunshot wound with an exit wound, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.

According to the testimony of a family member, Salvador Hormazábal left a relative's house the previous day, heading toward his own home shortly before the curfew began. While passing in front of the Fábricas de Maestranza del Ejército (FAMAE), he offered cigarettes to a sentry who was in a guard booth at the location.

At that moment, a patrol from the Fuerza Aérea de Chile passed by, and its personnel fired upon him, apparently presuming his behavior to be suspicious. His body was subsequently retrieved by his partner from the Legal Medical Institute.

Considering the investigation carried out by this Corporation, and despite the fact that the circumstances of his death have not been fully clarified, given the time period and the cause of death, the Superior Council declared Salvador Alamiro Hormazábal Romero a victim of the prevailing political violence.
