On September 8, 1983, in the context of the Fifth National Day of Protest, nine deaths occurred:
Robinson RAMIREZ RUBIO was 24 years old and worked as a laborer for the Occupational Program for Heads of Households (POJH).
On the night of the 8th, street demonstrations took place in the area of Calle Zapadores and Recoleta (Santiago). Various accounts received by the Commission indicate that the demonstrators fled when Carabineros officers arrived. In that context, there were gunshots, one of which struck him, causing his death.
The information received does not allow for the identification of who fired the fatal shot, but it leads the Commission to presume that it was carried out by private individuals with political motives, who violated Robinson Ramírez's right to life. There are indications that such individuals acted with the protection of State agents.
