Rosa Patricia Fuentes Ovando died that day at 11:50 hours, at the Hospital José Joaquín Aguirre, due to a thoracic gunshot wound with an exit wound, as stated in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to witness statements, on the morning of the events, Rosa Fuentes and her father were observing a contingent of carabineros attempting to disperse a group of people who were queuing to buy bread in front of a bakery near their home, on Avenida Las Torres in the commune of Conchalí.
Her father stated that the uniformed officers opened fire, causing the people to flee, including his daughter, who was struck by a bullet. Taken to the Hospital José Joaquín Aguirre, she passed away shortly thereafter.
The Superior Council, considering the date and manner of death, declared Rosa Patricia Fuentes Ovando a victim of the political violence prevailing at the time of her death.
