Rosa Emilia Espinoza Latorre died that day at 12:00 hours, at the Posta Central in Santiago, due to a craniocerebral injury caused by a firearm, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to statements from a sister, both lived in a rented room in a building located at the corner of Calle Santa Rosa and Eyzaguirre, in the commune of Santiago, near a Carabineros unit and three blocks from the Regimiento Maturana.
On September 13, Rosa Emilia, who was at her home looking out a window, was struck in the forehead by a projectile coming from outside. Fifteen minutes later, a group of carabineros arrived and raided the home without providing an explanation.
She was subsequently transported to a medical center, where her death was confirmed.
The Superior Council, despite not having been able to verify the precise circumstances in which Rosa Emilia Espinoza Latorre was wounded, and considering especially the time period and the cause of death, reached the conviction that she was a victim of the prevailing political violence.
