Ramón Víctor Zúñiga Sánchez died that day at 5:30 hours, on a public thoroughfare, due to gunshot wounds to the face, cranium, neck, and thorax, with projectile exit wounds, as stated in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.

According to statements made by family members, Ramón Zúñiga was detained on September 27, 1973, by military personnel who raided his home located in the La Pincoya neighborhood.

As he was not released, and unaware of the facility where he was being held, his spouse filed a report of her husband's disappearance at the La Pincoya Carabineros station and searched for him at emergency clinics, the Estadio Nacional, and the Legal Medical Institute, without obtaining positive results.

In 1974, officials from the Investigaciones police force informed her that Ramón Zúñiga had died and was buried in Section 29 of the General Cemetery of Santiago.

According to information provided by the administration of said cemetery, his remains, which were buried in a grave in Section 29, were exhumed and cremated in 1981, in accordance with regulatory provisions.

Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation carried out by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Ramón Víctor Zúñiga Sánchez was detained and extrajudicially executed by State agents, which constitutes a violation of human rights.
