Ramón Carrero Chanqueo died that day at 12:00 hours, in Pivinco, due to craniocerebral constriction and multiple gunshot wounds, caused by the actions of third parties, as stated in the Death Certificate. The Autopsy Report adds that the high destructive power suggests that the weapon used was of military origin.
According to the statements of his relatives, Ramón Carrero was detained on November 21, 1973, at his home located in Pivinco, a rural town near Temuco, by Ejército personnel belonging to the Tucapel Regiment of that city. His body was found on November 23 in a ravine about 300 meters from his home.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation carried out by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Ramón Carrero Chanqueo was executed by State agents, outside of any legal process and while he was in detention, a situation that constitutes a violation of human rights.
