Immediately thereafter, he was taken to the 4th Carabineros Precinct of Melipilla, under the command of Major Sergio Edilio Silva Aguirre -now deceased- and Lieutenant Pedro León Ramírez Hirane, nicknamed "Pedro Paco," removing him from the sphere of protection in which he was found, thereby affecting his individual security, with his whereabouts remaining unknown to this date.»

The minister in extraordinary visit for human rights violation cases of the San Miguel Court of Appeals, Marianela Cifuentes Alarcón, issued an indictment for the crime of abduction of the minor Oscar Hernán Enrique Miranda Segovia, committed starting on October 17, 1973, in the commune of Melipilla.

Minister Marianela Cifuentes Issues Sentence for Abduction of a Minor Occurring in October 1973 in Melipilla.
The Magistrate sentenced the surgeon and retired Carabineros health officer, Bernardo Purto Yarcho, and retired Lieutenant Pedro León Ramírez Hirane, to prison terms of 3 years and 4 years respectively, with the benefit of conditional remission, as responsible for the crime of abduction of a minor.
The Minister in extraordinary visit for human rights violation cases of the San Miguel Court of Appeals, Marianela Cifuentes Alarcón, sentenced the surgeon and retired Carabineros health officer, Bernardo Purto Yarcho and retired Lieutenant Pedro León Ramírez Hirane , to prison terms of 3 years and 4 years respectively, with the benefit of conditional remission, as responsible for the crime of abduction of the minor Oscar Hernán Enrique Miranda Segovia , committed starting on October 17, 1973, in the commune of Melipilla.
In civil matters, the ruling orders the State of Chile to pay compensation of $150,000,000 to the victim's siblings. The Magistrate's investigation established that: 1° On October 17, 1973, in the afternoon, on a public street in the commune of Melipilla, an incident occurred between Oscar Hernán Enrique Miranda Segovia, 17 years old, and Bernardo Purto Yarcho, surgeon and Health Officer of the 4th Carabineros Precinct of Melipilla . 2° Following the incident, in front of the property at Calle San Miguel N° 760 in the commune of Melipilla, Bernardo Purto Yarcho , with the support of a group of civilians, detained Oscar Miranda Segovia without legal basis. 3° Immediately thereafter, Purto Yarcho transferred the adolescent to the 4th Carabineros Precinct of Melipilla , where he was kept imprisoned in an irregular manner. 4° At the time of the events, the aforementioned police unit was under the command of Major Sergio Edilio Silva Aguirre , as Commissioner; Captain Sergio Owen Hernán Brieba Hinrichsen , as Sub-commissioner; and Lieutenant Pedro León Ramírez Hirane . 5° Instead of being released or placed at the disposal of the respective administrative or judicial authority, the whereabouts of Oscar Miranda Segovia remain unknown to this date.

This was as responsible for the abduction of the minor Oscar Enrique Miranda Segovia , a crime committed starting on October 17, 1973, in the commune of Melipilla. However, the magistrate granted both the benefit of conditional remission of the sentence, meaning they will be able to serve it in freedom, subject to "discreet observation and assistance by the Gendarmerie," as established by law. The visiting minister's investigation established that during the afternoon of October 17, 1973, an incident occurred on a public street in Melipilla between the minor Oscar Miranda and the surgeon Bernardo Purto. Following this—and with the support of a group of civilians—the uniformed officer "detained, without legal basis," the young man, as highlighted by the resolution. Immediately thereafter, Purto transferred the adolescent to the 4th Carabineros Precinct of Melipilla, "a place where he was kept imprisoned in an irregular manner," the ruling notes. Said police facility was under the command of Lieutenant Pedro León Ramírez Hirane, among other officers. "Instead of being released or placed at the disposal of the respective administrative or judicial authority, the whereabouts of Oscar Miranda Segovia remain unknown to this date," concludes Minister Marianela Cifuentes. In civil matters, the ruling ordered the State to pay compensation of $150,000,000 to the victim's siblings.
