Pedro Julio Andurandegui Sáez died that day at 16:30 hours, in the cell of the Third Judicial Precinct of the Investigations Police of Chile, due to aspiration of hematic content regurgitated from the stomach, as attested by the Death Certificate.

According to statements from family members, at approximately 7:00 hours that same day, he was detained along with two friends inside the José María Caro neighborhood by officers of the Investigations Police and taken to the local police unit.

Around 15:00 hours, the police officers removed him from the cell where he was being held and took him to a room for interrogation. Witnesses heard his cries and screams while he was tortured for about thirty minutes.

Subsequently, when the family arrived at the facility, they were notified that Pedro Andurandegui had died as a result of an excess of marijuana. Upon identifying the body, the family members were able to observe that his face was bruised, his teeth were loose, and he presented electrical burns.

As a result of these events, a judicial process was initiated before the Third Criminal Court of the Pedro Aguirre Cerda Department, which was temporarily dismissed.

Considering the evidence gathered, the Superior Council of this Corporation reached the conviction that the torture to which he was subjected by State agents during his detention decisively influenced the death of Pedro Julio Andurandegui Sáez. By virtue of this, he was declared a victim of human rights violations.
