Pedro Hernández Araya died that day at 5:00 hours, in the area of Paradero 25 of Vicuña Mackenna, due to abdominal and thoracic gunshot wounds, as stated in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to information gathered by family members and neighbors, on October 10 Pedro Hernández left his home around 19:00 hours and did not return. His eldest son, only 15 years old, began searching for him accompanied by a neighbor.
They finally found him at the Legal Medical Institute, confirming that his body was virtually riddled with bullets. According to testimonies received, Hernández Araya was allegedly shot by military personnel during curfew hours.
Based on the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council declared Pedro Guillermo Hernández Araya a victim of the political violence prevailing at the time of his death.
