Pedro Araya Araya, 61 years old, died on October 16, 1973, in the Metropolitan Region, as a result of a thoracic-abdominal gunshot wound. The victim, who worked as a shoeshine man in the La Vega sector, was detained by uniformed personnel and executed in a public thoroughfare.
His body was left alongside others under a bridge over the Mapocho River, where it would later be found. His remains were transferred to a mass grave at the Cementerio General. The evidence gathered by the Commission allows for the conviction that there was participation by State agents in the death of Pedro Araya Araya.
