On March 29, 1985, Paulina Alejandra AGUIRRE TOBAR, 20 years old and a militant of the MIR, died.
According to the official version, on March 27, 1985, weaponry was found at the property located at Calle Pastor Fernández No. 16.100 in Las Condes, Paulina Aguirre's residence. The weapons were removed by CNI personnel, who set up a guard at the location to arrest the occupant, who only returned on Friday, March 29, at 11:15 p.m., on foot.
She was intercepted by CNI officials, who ordered her to stop and identify herself.
The aforementioned version adds that the woman stopped, but opened her bag, pulled out a weapon, and fired three shots, which prompted the officials to shoot her, causing her death.
The autopsy report indicates that Paulina Aguirre received two gunshot wounds to the head, one to the neck, three to the right hand, and two to the left forearm.
The Commission, considering the numerous records gathered and the ocular inspection of the site, has reached the conviction that Paulina Aguirre could have been arrested; however, she was killed by CNI agents as she returned to her home, without any opposition on her part. Therefore, it considers her death a human rights violation for which state agents are responsible.
