Nemesio Escobar died that day at 17:00 hours, at the Posta Central, due to a thoracic-cardiac gunshot wound, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to statements from eyewitnesses, Nemesio Escobar was wounded by a firearm discharge while he was working at an industrial facility, located at the intersection of Avenida Vicuña Mackenna and Aysén.
According to the witnesses, Nemesio Escobar suddenly clutched his abdomen and collapsed to the floor. He was immediately taken to the ASIVA Security Institute, from where he was transferred to the Posta Central, the facility where he passed away that same day.
A military operation was taking place at the location, involving helicopters that were flying over the industrial facility, from which shots were being fired.
The Superior Council, considering the date and cause of his death, declared Nemesio Segundo Escobar Zúñiga a victim of the prevailing political violence.
