Moisés Patricio González González died that day at 13:10 hours, at the Barros Luco Hospital, due to traumatic brain injury, as stated in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to information obtained from the judicial proceedings and statements from family members, Moisés González was arrested in the early hours of May 30 on a public street by carabineros from the Tenth Precinct and taken to that police facility.
At this location, the carabineros on duty refused to book him as a detainee due to his physical condition and limited themselves to recording the event in the Daily Logbook. Hours later, he was transferred from the precinct to the emergency center of the Barros Luco Hospital, where he was admitted with a diagnosis of intoxication, a right frontal abrasion, and a complicated traumatic brain injury.
Four days later, despite the surgical interventions performed on him, he passed away.
In the judicial proceedings, the arresting officers claimed that he did not have any visible injuries when they detained him, and in its report, the Investigations Police concluded that the participation of third parties should be presumed in the injuries sustained by Moisés González.
Despite these contradictions, the investigation was temporarily dismissed without establishing responsibilities.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that the death of Moisés Patricio González González was a direct consequence of the blows he suffered during his detention at the hands of State agents. For this reason, it declared him a victim of human rights violations.
