Between September 19, 20, and 21, 1973, at the AIROLITE S.A. company located on Panamericana Norte, in the commune of Conchalí, several people were detained, three of whom were victims of political executions:
-Ernesto VASQUEZ GODOY, 22 years old, laborer, militant of the Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR).
He was detained by Carabineros officers from the 5th Precinct inside the company on September 19, 1973. That same afternoon, Carabineros personnel raided his home. His family searched for him unsuccessfully at various detention centers until September 26, when they found his body at the Instituto Médico Legal.
The death certificate states the cause as: "Multiple gunshot wounds" (the autopsy report confirms 16 impacts). Location: public thoroughfare. Date: September 19, 1973.
-Guillermo Osvaldo VALLEJO FERDINAND, 38 years old, law graduate, legal advisor to the company's government-appointed administrator, and militant of the Partido Socialista.
He was detained on September 20, 1973, by Carabineros officers from the 5th Precinct inside the company and taken to that police facility. There, he was seen by his spouse, who was told he would be transferred to the Estadio Nacional.
His presence was not acknowledged at that location. Subsequently, his body was found at the Instituto Médico Legal. The death certificate states the cause as: "Craniocerebral gunshot wound." Date: September 22, 1973. Location: public thoroughfare. The autopsy report confirms 14 gunshot impacts in different parts of his body.
-Miguel Hernán ARANCIBIA CASTILLO, 28 years old, laborer, member of the company union.
He was detained on September 21 inside the company by Carabineros officers from the 5th Precinct and taken to that facility. There, his family members were told that he had been released. His body was found buried in Patio 29 of the Cementerio General on October 11 and was exhumed on October 14.
The death certificate states the cause as: "Craniocerebral, facio-cervical, thoracic, and right-hand gunshot wounds." Date: September 22, 1973. Location: public thoroughfare. The autopsy report confirms clear signs of torture.
This Commission has formed the conviction that Ernesto Vásquez, Guillermo Vallejo, and Miguel Arancibia were executed and their bodies subsequently abandoned on the public thoroughfare by State agents, outside of any legal process. This conviction is based on the record of their detention, the cause of their deaths, and the manner in which their bodies were found.
