On October 5, the following individuals were detained in the José María Caro neighborhood during a raid carried out by military personnel:

Manuel Fernando CANTO GUTIERREZ, 18 years old, merchant.

Sergio Fernando FERNANDEZ PAVEZ, 18 years old, loader at the Vega Central.

Luis Eduardo ROJAS GERALDO, 21 years old, delivery assistant.

Miguel Angel SANTIBAÑEZ DURAN, 19 years old, merchant.

Numerous arrests were made during the raid, and those apprehended were taken to the 21st Precinct of the Carabineros. All of them were subsequently released, except for the four individuals identified above.

To this date, there has been no news regarding the whereabouts of two of them. Regarding the other two, Rojas and Santibáñez, their families were informed at the Legal Medical Institute that they were buried in Section 29 of the General Cemetery and that the cause of their deaths was gunshot wounds.

Having verified the detentions of those affected and taking into account the causes of death for two of them, the Commission has formed the conviction that Manuel Fernando Canto Gutiérrez and Sergio Fernando Fernández Pavez were forcibly disappeared through acts for which state agents were responsible, while Luis Eduardo Rojas Geraldo and Miguel Angel Santibáñez Durán were victims of political executions by agents of the same nature, all of them being victims of grave human rights violations.
