On May 4, 1984, around 8:00 PM, a group of residents attempted to enter the Baratísimo Supermarket located at the intersection of Teniente Cruz and José Joaquín Pérez streets in the Pudahuel commune, an action that was prevented by personnel from the Western Prefecture of Carabineros.
Subsequently, under circumstances that remain unclarified, Máximo BERMUDEZ BALLON and his son Juan Rafael BERMUDEZ GAETE, neither of whom were carrying weapons, died as a result of gunshot wounds.
The Commission, having evaluated the information received, especially the testimonies of witnesses, has reached the conviction that Máximo and Juan Rafael Bermúdez are victims of political violence.
