Francesca Romana D’ Alesandri Matte, 19 years old, with no political affiliation, died on January 24, 1974, as a result of a gunshot wound to the neck after being shot from the Naval Operations School in Viña del Mar, Fifth Region.
On the day of the incident, the victim and her family were traveling to Reñaca by car. Due to a traffic jam, the vehicle was stopped in front of the naval facility, and a cousin of the victim decided to take photographs of the area.
Suddenly, a member of the Armada fired into the interior of the vehicle, the bullet striking the victim in the neck. After being transported to a hospital, she died a few hours later. This Commission formed the conviction that the death of Francesca Romana D’ Alesandri Matte was the work of an agent of the State.
