On September 29, 1973, Julio SAN MARTIN, 39 years old, sub-delegate of Lumaco and Capitán Pastene and a member of the Partido Comunista in Curacautín, was detained by Carabineros officers from that town while he was traveling on a bus from Curacautín to Lautaro.
His whereabouts have been unknown since that date. Witnesses who testified before this Commission state that Julio San Martín was executed and his body abandoned.
Having verified his detention, considering his political affiliation, and given the absence of any subsequent news regarding the affected individual, this Commission is convinced that Julio San Martín was detained and forcibly disappeared by State agents, a victim of a grave violation of his human rights.
