Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos[1]
Mario Ramón Durán Toledo died that day at 23:00 hours, at the Posta Central, due to a complicated abdominal gunshot wound and acute generalized peritonitis, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to the statement provided by his mother, on September 11, 1973, both left their shared home for their respective jobs. Mario Durán headed toward the Franklin sector, where he worked as a loader.
Due to the events that were unfolding, she returned home during the morning, but her son did not return, and she did not hear from him until a week later, when the Legal Medical Institute informed her that his remains had been sent to the Cementerio General.
According to information provided by this cemetery, his remains were interred on September 27, 1973, in Patio 29 and, subsequently, cremated for regulatory reasons.
The records of the Asistencia Pública Central indicate that he was admitted the day before his death, around 18:00 hours, with an abdominal wound and hematomas on his body.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, although the circumstances of Mario Ramón Durán Toledo's death could not be precisely determined, the Superior Council, taking into account the era and the cause of death, reached the conviction that his passing was due to the political violence prevailing during that period.
