María de la Cruz Frankovich Pérez died that day at 18:10 hours at the Posta Central, due to a complicated gluteal-pelvic-hypogastric gunshot wound and acute anemia, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
On September 13, she was walking along Calle Rogelio Ugarte together with three other women. At that moment, Carabineros officers burst onto the scene, firing for several minutes before withdrawing, leaving María Frankovich wounded.
Her husband and son, who witnessed what happened, transported her by car to the Posta Central, where she passed away.
Considering the evidence gathered in the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council declared María de la Cruz Frankovich Pérez a victim of human rights violations by State agents who made irrational use of force.
