On August 3, 1987, Jesús RODRIGUEZ MUÑOZ, 26 years old, a detective assigned to the 14th Investigations Precinct of La Cisterna, passed away.

On that day, Detective Rodríguez Muñoz was conducting a preventive patrol at Avenida Las Industrias and Departamental, in the commune of La Cisterna. He had been called to respond to a robbery at a gas station.

When he arrived at the scene in a patrol vehicle with two other detectives and attempted to question three suspects, the individuals responded with automatic weapons, leaving the officer gravely wounded. He died moments later at the Barros Luco Hospital, according to his death certificate.

The Commission, based on the evidence examined, concluded that:

The victim was performing duties inherent to his institution at the time of the events;

The individuals who shot him belonged to the Frente Patriótico Manuel Rodríguez (FPMR).

The Commission reached the conviction that Detective Jesús Rodríguez was a victim of a human rights violation committed by members of the Frente Patriótico Manuel Rodríguez (FPMR).
