Manuel Jesús Muñoz Muñoz was arrested in December 1974 in the rural sector of El Manzano, located in the commune of Quirihue, and has remained a forcibly disappeared person since that time.
According to the statement provided by his sister, an eyewitness to the events, Manuel Muñoz was working in the locality of El Manzano when he was arrested by carabineros and civilians. His captors tied him up and transported him in a jeep to an unknown location, where they allegedly killed him.
Some witnesses have indicated that his body was buried in the Llohué sector, though it has not been possible to locate his remains to date.
The judicial process, initiated in 1989, contains witness statements detailing the circumstances of the arrest and disappearance of Manuel Jesús Muñoz. In the search for him, a grave in the locality of Llohué was examined with no positive results, as it was empty at the time of the exhumation.
Subsequent information indicates that a fire occurred at the site, following which skeletal remains were found. The destination of these remains is unknown, making it impossible for the Court to order forensic examinations or other identification procedures.
In March 1990, the judicial process was temporarily dismissed, without his whereabouts or those of his remains being established.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Manuel Jesús Muñoz Muñoz was arrested by State agents and disappeared while being held in that status. For this reason, he was declared a victim of human rights violations.
