On October 7, 1973, Manuel Antonio VALENCIA NORAMBUENA, a 39-year-old street vendor, was killed after being detained the previous day at his home by members of the Carabineros from the San Gregorio police unit.
The victim was taken by his captors to an unknown destination. The following day, his detention was denied to his family members. After fruitless searches, the family managed to find his body at the Instituto Médico Legal, where it was established that the cause of death was gunshot wounds. The death certificate indicates the date of death as October 7.
Finding the detention of the victim to be sufficiently proven and taking into consideration the circumstances and cause of death, the Commission has reached the conviction that Manuel Antonio Valencia is a victim of human rights violations, attributable to the actions of State agents.
