Luis Santiago Díaz Nilo died that day at 13:00 hours at the Posta Central due to a gunshot wound with an exit projectile, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.

According to information provided by his family, on the morning of September 11 of that year, Luis Díaz was working at a newspaper stand owned by his family, located at the corner of Calle Agustinas and Bandera. Under those circumstances, he was struck by a projectile fired by unknown persons.

His family found his body three days later at the Posta Central Morgue, from where they transferred him to the Legal Medical Service.

Despite the inability to determine the exact circumstances of his death, the Superior Council, considering the cause, location, and date on which it occurred, declared Luis Santiago Díaz Nilo a victim of the prevailing political violence.
