On December 25, 1973, Omar TORRES ANTINAO, 21 years old, a fruit vendor with no known political affiliation, was killed by military personnel from the Tucapel Regiment of Temuco. Military personnel had visited his home several times previously in search of a sister of the victim who was a member of the MIR, without finding her.
On that day, the captors arrived at his home and Torres fled toward the backyard of the house. The uniformed men followed him and shot him in the presence of his mother and sisters, killing him instantly. His lifeless body was delivered to his family at the Temuco Hospital.
Having verified the account of the events, this Commission is convinced that Omar Torres was executed by State agents outside of all legality, in an act of human rights violation.
