Luis Leopoldo Barrera Torres died that day at 10:30 hours, on Calle Teatinos, due to an abdominal gunshot wound, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to statements made by family members, Luis Barrera, who worked as a welder at the Corporación de Fomento (CORFO), left for work that day at approximately 8:00 hours, but did not return. Two days later, unknown individuals who appeared at the family home delivered his identity card and informed his spouse that his body was at the Legal Medical Institute.
It was not until September 15, 1973, that Luis Barrera's father was able to go and collect his body.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council, despite not having established the precise circumstances of his death, and taking into account the time, place, and cause of death, declared Luis Leopoldo Barrera Torres a victim of the prevailing political violence.
