Luis Humberto Fuentes Fuentes died that day at 22:00 hours, at Calle Ramiro Sepúlveda No. 58, Población Nueva Matucana, due to a thoracic gunshot wound, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to a statement provided by his son, a witness to the events, Luis Fuentes, who was blind, was on the public thoroughfare in front of his home in the Población Nueva Matucana. Around 22:00 hours, while the curfew was in effect, he was struck by shots fired by individuals wearing helmets, traveling in a pickup truck that had previously been seen patrolling during curfew hours.
He passed away moments later in his home.
These events were reported to Carabineros and investigated by the Ninth Criminal Court of Santiago; the case was temporarily dismissed because the reported crime was not sufficiently proven.
