On that day, Private Luis Castillo was in the vicinity of the La Moneda Palace, participating in the siege of that compound, when he was struck in the chest by two bullets fired by unknown persons. He was transported in serious condition to the Military Hospital, where he passed away in the early hours of September 12, 1973.
The evidence examined allows for the following conclusions:
-The victim died as a result of a gunshot wound while on active duty.
-On September 11, a situation of general confrontation occurred.
Based on the aforementioned, this Commission has formed the conviction that 1st Class Private Luis Castillo fell as a victim of the situation of political violence.
