Luis Enrique Canelo Maureira died that day at 2:45 a.m. from multiple gunshot wounds, two of which were abdominal, causing destruction of the intestinal loops and vascular injuries, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
Eyewitnesses stated that Luis Enrique Canelo was detained that day at his home located in Miraflores Alto by a military patrol belonging to the Coraceros Regiment. According to information gathered during the investigation, uniformed personnel delivered his body to the Gustavo Fricke Hospital, from where it was sent to the Legal Medical Institute.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Luis Enrique Canelo Maureira was executed by State agents, outside of any legal process and while he was in detention, and declared him a victim of human rights violations.
