VILLARROEL RIVERA, LUIS ANTONIO: 19 years old, single, street vendor, executed on October 3, 1973 in Santiago.
Juan Fernando Campos Gatica, Mario Angel Candia Acevedo, Exequiel Alejandro Lemus Muñoz, and Luis Antonio Villarroel Rivera died between 8:00 and 23:00 hours, on a public thoroughfare, due to gunshot wounds with exit projectiles, according to the Medical Death Certificates from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to consistent testimonies, they were detained on October 2 at their respective homes located in the población San Gregorio, during an operation carried out by Carabineros personnel belonging to the sector's police unit.
Luis Humberto Muñoz Aguayo was also detained and executed during the operation; his case was classified as a victim of human rights violations by the National Commission for Truth and Reconciliation.
Family members stated that they were informed at the police station that the detainees would be released during the course of the day. However, the following day they were found dead at the Legal Medical Institute.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation carried out by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Juan Fernando Campos Gatica, Mario Angel Candia Acevedo, Exequiel Alejandro Lemus Muñoz, Luis Antonio Portuguez Maulen, and Luis Antonio Villarroel Rivera were executed outside of any legal process by State agents while they were in custody.
Consequently, it declared them victims of human rights violations.
