Luis Alfredo Gamboa Pizarro died at 0:30 hours on September 19, 1973, at the Bulnes bridge over the Mapocho River, due to a gunshot wound to the cranium, as stated in his Death Certificate. He remained forcibly disappeared until 1993, when it was established that he had been buried without his family's knowledge in Patio Nº29 of the General Cemetery of Santiago.
Luis Gamboa was a member of the Personal Guard of President Salvador Allende (GAP) and served at the presidential residence of "El Cañaveral" until September 11, 1973. After that date, his relatives, who lived outside of Santiago, stopped receiving news from him and, despite the efforts made, were unable to obtain information regarding his fate or whereabouts.
In 1993, the family learned of his death during the investigation conducted by the Twenty-Second Criminal Court of Santiago regarding illegal burials in Patio 29 of the General Cemetery.
Judicial records revealed that Luis Gamboa's body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute as a "John Doe" (NN), where he was identified through his fingerprints, and that he was subsequently buried in the aforementioned cemetery without his family's knowledge.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Luis Alfredo Gamboa Pizarro was detained and executed by State agents outside of any legal process. For this reason, he was declared a victim of human rights violations.*
────────────────────────* Subsequent to the qualification of this case, on October 29, 1993, a resolution was issued in the aforementioned judicial investigation that corroborated his identification and ordered his remains to be handed over to his relatives.
