On October 9, 1973, Juan LLEUCUN LLEUCUN, 56 years old, a District Inspector appointed by the Unidad Popular government and a militant of the Partido Radical, was detained by Carabineros officers.
The arrest took place at his home on the island of Meulín, Chiloé. He was subsequently transferred to the Quenac Police Station in an unconscious state due to the mistreatment he had received, where he died on October 10, 1973.
The Commission formed the conviction that the death of Juan Lleucún constitutes a human rights violation for which State agents are responsible, based on testimonies received that confirm the detention and the mistreatment to which the victim was subjected, as well as the fact that his death occurred inside the Quenac Police Station.
