On September 4, 1985, during the demonstrations related to the Fourteenth Day of National Protest, ten people died:
Julio Celestino SUAZO SANDOVAL, 26 years old, a laborer, was on the public thoroughfare near his home in the La Florida commune on the night of September 4, when he was killed by a gunshot that pierced his lung.
Testimonies known to the Commission indicate that there were various anti-government demonstrations in the vicinity and that unidentified individuals, traveling in a private vehicle, fired upon Julio Suazo.
One witness stated: "A gray car appeared, without license plates and I do not know what make, occupied by four people. One of them got out of the vehicle, pulled out a large pistol, and fired."
The evidence presented leads this Commission to the conviction that Julio Celestino Suazo was a victim of a violation of his right to life committed by private individuals for political motives.
