Juan Manuel Valdenegro Arancibia died that day at 14:35 hours, at the Hospital José Joaquín Aguirre, due to craniocerebral trauma, as certified by his Death Certificate.
According to statements from his family members, Juan Valdenegro was detained by Ejército personnel on February 8, 1975, at approximately 0:30 hours, in the Juanita Aguirre neighborhood of Conchalí, as he left his parents' home to head to his own residence, located a short distance away.
Hours later, he was admitted to the Hospital José Joaquín Aguirre in an agonizing state, having been transferred from the Buin Regiment. He presented with closed craniocerebral trauma, the result of severe blows received to the head, which caused his death.
The Autopsy Protocol confirms the cause of death, noting that the trauma was intense and recent, and that the injuries found were necessarily fatal.
Considering the evidence gathered by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that the death of Juan Manuel Valdenegro Arancibia was caused by the blows and torture to which he was subjected by State agents during his detention. For this reason, it declared him a victim of human rights violations.
