Juan Jorge Gallardo Núñez died that day at 22:00 hours, in the Lo Valledor neighborhood, due to a gunshot wound, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to family members and neighbors in the area, Juan Gallardo was detained at his home by carabineros from the Thirteenth Precinct, who stated that they were taking him to be included on the Military Service lists and that they would return him home soon.
However, this did not happen. Upon arriving at the aforementioned precinct, the officers informed the family that they had handed him over to a military patrol because he was not registered at the Recruitment Canton. The family then began an intense search, which culminated at the Legal Medical Institute, where they identified and recovered his remains.
In accordance with the investigation conducted and the evidence gathered by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Juan Jorge Gallardo Núñez was executed by State agents, outside of any legal process and while he was in detention, a situation constituting a human rights violation.
