Juan Antonio Avendaño Meneses, 18 years old, died on September 7, 1975, at Santa Mónica and Ovalle, in the El Salto sector, Metropolitan Region. At approximately 8:00 p.m. that day, the victim was returning home when he was struck by a bullet in the back.
The shot, which was a long-distance fire discharged by carabineros who were patrolling the area, caused his instantaneous death. The evidence gathered by this Commission led to the conviction that Juan Antonio Avendaño Meneses died as a result of the actions of State agents.
