According to the death certificate, death occurred on that same day, October 10, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapocho River. The autopsy report indicates the cause of death as multiple complicated gunshot wounds to the abdomen and thorax.
Given the location and cause of death, as well as the conditions of the time, the Commission reached the conviction that the death of José Sergio Alegría could only have been caused by State agents who executed him, an act that constitutes a violation of human rights.
