José Miguel Osores Soto was forcibly disappeared that day after 17:00 hours, after leaving his home located in the La Unión neighborhood of Cauquenes, heading to the local cemetery, where he was to meet his children who were visiting deceased relatives.
According to statements made by family members, that same night, the neighborhood where they lived was raided by the military. Every house was searched, including that of José Miguel Osores.
The family searched for him in the various detention centers in the area, in hospitals, and at the morgue. They placed notices on the radio and television, without obtaining any results. A complaint for alleged disappearance was filed with the ordinary courts of justice, which also yielded no results.
The report of the National Commission for Truth and Reconciliation records the situation of several agricultural workers who were detained in Cauquenes after September 11, 1973, by military personnel or officials of Investigaciones, and held at the Investigaciones barracks in Cauquenes, from where, on October 4, 1973, they were taken to a nearby location and executed by firing squad.
