On October 18, 1973, Jorge Cristián CLAVERIA INOSTROZA, 19 years old, an employee and student, and a member of the Juventudes Comunistas, died. On the 10th of the same month, he had reported to the Empresa de Distribución y Comercialización (DINAC), his place of employment, in order to provide a statement to the new authorities. He was not heard from again.

His family members visited the DINAC company and several police stations, but were unable to obtain any information.

On October 27, 1973, the family found his body at the Instituto Médico Legal, where it had been sent from the Mapocho River, as recorded in that institution's files. The autopsy had been performed on October 19, determining the cause of death to be three gunshot wounds with exit points: one to the face and cranium, one to the thorax, and one to the abdomen and thorax.

According to the death certificate, the death occurred at 5:00 a.m. on October 18, 1973.

This Commission has reached the conviction that Jorge Cristián Clavería was executed by State agents, an act that constitutes a grave violation of human rights. This conviction is especially supported by the victim's political affiliation, his temporary disappearance from a facility under the control of the new authorities, the location where his body was found, the cause of his death, and the fact that it occurred during curfew hours.
