On September 20, 1973, Rafael ARCE JEREZ, 21 years old, an employee, died.
The victim left his home near noon on September 20, heading to the Banco del Trabajo, Gran Avenida branch, to cash a check. As he did not return home, his family began searching for him until they found his body at the Medical Legal Institute. According to the death certificate, the body showed gunshot wounds, with the time of death recorded as September 20, 1973, at 11:00 PM.
Subsequently, the family was informed that a large-scale operation had been carried out in the area that day, during which many arrests were made.
Having verified the operation carried out by members of the Armed Forces and considering the circumstances and causes of death, this Commission reached the conviction that Rafael Arce Jerez died as a result of political violence, with the presumption that the perpetrators of his death were agents of the State.
