Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos[1]
On the night of September 4, 1989, the MIR political leader, Jécar Antonio NEHGME CRISTI, was assassinated by individuals in civilian clothing while walking along Calle Bulnes toward the Alameda.
The death was claimed by the 11 de Septiembre Command, the same group that acted in the killings on the night following the attack on General Pinochet’s motorcade. It has been established before this Commission that the victim was subjected to constant surveillance prior to these events, with witnesses confirming that this occurred on the very day of his death.
The Commission has reached the conviction that Jécar Nehgme was killed for political reasons, in violation of his human rights, by private individuals, with evidence indicating the participation of state agents.
