Inés MANRIQUEZ ARROYO, 42 years of age, was in the courtyard of her home in the San Carlos neighborhood (Santiago) on the afternoon of August 11 when she was struck by a bullet of unknown origin, which caused her death.
Testimonies deemed credible indicate that at that moment, gunfire could be heard on the main Avenida, although there were no incidents at the actual location of the events.
Given that there is no information regarding the origin of the bullet, this Commission is convinced that Inés Manríquez died as a victim of the political violence characteristic of that period.
