Guillermo Enrique Flores Lantadilla died that day at 14:15 hours, in the infirmary of the Escuela de Infantería de San Bernardo, due to a gunshot wound to the cranium, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate.
The official version of the death of Flores Lantadilla, who was fulfilling his Compulsory Military Service at the Escuela de Infantería de San Bernardo, states that it was due to an accidental discharge by another soldier while an operation was being carried out in the José María Caro neighborhood.
Considering the background information gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council, notwithstanding the accidental nature of his death, deemed it attributable to the conditions of tension in which military personnel with little experience were carrying out duties for which they were not sufficiently trained.
For that consideration, and given the era in which these events occurred, it declared Guillermo Enrique Flores Lantadilla a victim of the prevailing political violence.
