Guillermo Antonio Román Bustamante died that day at 11:55 hours at the Barros Luco Hospital from a gunshot wound to the cranium, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute and the Autopsy Protocol.
Due to the national events unfolding that day, students were sent home at approximately 11:00 hours. However, according to witness statements, the young man, whose school was located in the vicinity of the Estación Central, headed toward the city center to witness what was happening there.
When he did not return home, his family visited various locations in order to determine his whereabouts, without positive results. On September 19, his father went to the Legal Medical Institute, where he found his body.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation carried out by this Corporation, despite not having been able to establish the precise circumstances in which his death occurred, given the time period and the cause of death, the Superior Council declared Guillermo Antonio Román Bustamante a victim of the prevailing political violence.
