On September 16, 1973, Gladys del Tránsito BALBOA CISTERNAS, 26 years old, a textile worker, died.
During an operation carried out by uniformed forces in the La Legua neighborhood, she was wounded by gunfire and died the same day. Her death certificate states the cause of death as: "cranial-encephalic gunshot wound without exit of the projectile."
Having established the cause of death and considering especially the date of the event and the context in which it occurred, this Commission, although it does not know the exact circumstances under which her death took place, has formed the conviction that Gladys Balboa died as a consequence of the situation of political violence prevailing in the country.
